Barenaked Ladies Are So Awesome

Wow. Our MIXperience: Barenaked Ladies last week was amazing. They did so many great songs, impromptu covers, funny banter...and also performed new songs from their upcoming album "All In Good Time" (it will be released March 30. Check out this stellar review of the show.

Wish I could find video of the concert on youtube. I did come across this, though - anyone who saw BNL at The Taste Of Chicago last summer got a preview of their new song, "You Run Away":

Helping In Haiti

I first reported about Dr. Dan Ivankovich on facebook last week. He's a facebook friend - I have never met him in person, but I saw the pictures he was posting from Haiti and was impressed by the generousity he was offering and reposted them for more people to see. Instead of donating money, he donated himself - he went there to offer hands on assistance.

The Suntimes has a feature story about him today. My hat goes off to Dr. Dan Ivankovich and the other doctors, nurses, and other kind people who are in Haiti offering their expertise.

With the melting snow brings...

Yesterday on the air I mentioned that with the melting snow brings the unfortunate consequence of...well, I have a dog so the snow had covered a lot of it up...you guessed it: doggie doo-doo.

A listener instantly emailed me a link to her business, Everything Pet. They do...well, everything for a pet...including picking up the waste. Awesome, yeah! If I didn't have a 13 year old daughter who intends on becoming a veterinarian when she grows up I'd definitely think about hiring that job out. But I figure I'm doing my daughter a favor by making that her responsibility. I'm giving her valuable experience for her future line of work. At least that's the story I'm giving her...

This is my dog Rudy...such a cutie, even when he's being naughty (like when I catch him sitting on the furniture).

Metra is now caught up to the last century

Beginning Monday, January 11, 2010 Metra will finally accept credit cards at the LaSalle, Millennium Park and Van Buren stations. The following Monday Metra will begin accepting plastic at Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center. Suburban stations will start taking credit cards in February.

Maybe by spring they'll quit listening to music on their 8-track player and watching Beta videos.

And apparently, rock solid abs are genetic. BTW, Gavin is 42 and Gwen is 40.
